Burton Holmes is one of the lesser-known figures in film history, yet he did much to further the medium of motion pictures by traveling the world, filming far-flung cultures and giving immensely popular lectures on his experiences abroad. Patrick Loughney, Ph.D. touches on Mr. Holmes’ contribution to the world of motion pictures and discusses efforts to preserve a collection of his work. Dr. Loughney is the Curator of Motion Pictures at the International Museum of Photography and Film at the George Eastman House as well as Director of The L. Jeffrey Selznick School of Film Preservation. To learn more, please visit George Eastman House. To donate, please click Donate Now!

Certainly doing justice to Holmes etc. it should also be brought to mind and preserved he begain as a Photog and Magic Lanternist with his earlier lectures. That precinema portion should be a permanent part of his history, as has been published in the past. Having not seen the presentation, may simply be unaware if this is addressed.
we have his traveling trunk, a handbill and some material from him, his wife, and his successor. Best regards,
Jack Judson CEO/Curator at http://www.magiclanterns.org.

I am so surprised to see this film.
The film is showing Korean landscape (Seoul area) in 1900s.
The dance of the last part is so special.
Because it is not general style. And the architecture of house is all gone now.
Thank you for preserving the film and Korean past culture. It is so important to communicate past and present.
I really appreciate all the member of George Eastman House and Burton Holmes.
